ScoffLaw Scott?
As a citizen of House District 26, I always try to learn all that I can about candidates that are asking us to hire them to represent our best interests in the Iowa State House in Des Moines. In doing just that, I discovered that candidate Scott Ourth has quite a long criminal record that should be of deep concern of every voter in the district. Here are some of the disturbing facts that I found in the public record:

Accusations CONFIRMED.
As the administrator of this website, I will try to respond to every blog post with either confirmation or refutation (as applicable). In this case, the above accusation has been confirmed as true. If one visits this government website, trial court, case search and searches for "OURTH SCOTT D" and reads Case: 08901 OWIN011525 (click on both "[Criminal Charges/Disposition]" and "[Filings]") you will read verbatim what is reflected in this blog posting.
I would not use the words "criminal record" here, a phrase which I might reserve for the likes of domestic assault, battery, rape or armed robbery. I saw nothing of that sort in Ourth's court record. I would instead use the phrase "unflattering court history" instead.
It is unfortunate that Ourth did not learn from his FIRST OWI and needed to go through all this again a second time, before learning his lesson. I am also concerned as to why Ourth apparently "blew off" this matter and was found in contempt of court and forced to serve seven days in jail, before learning the seriousness of OWI and about the rule of law. This aspect alone concerns me the most. OWI happens to a lot of people, sometimes even good people, where the intoxication impairs their ability to make wise decisions, but one can not blame intoxication for the conscious and deliberate decision a year later, to be in contempt of court! Do we really want a scofflaw representing us in the House? Further, I am curious as to why his first OWI is missing from the court records. Was this due to a clerical error or to corruption? I am most curious to read the circumstances behind that case as well and to learn why it is now missing.
